Elizabeth A. Kostas-Polston, PhD, ARNP, WHNP-BC
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar
Assistant Professor, University of South Florida


Elizabeth A. Kostas-Polston, Ph.D., A.P.R.N., W.H.N.P.-B.C. is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar;
and holds a dual appointment as Assistant Professor at the University of South Florida College of Nursing and Saint Louis
University School of Medicine, Department of Otolaryngology, Head & Neck Surgery. She received her BSN from Arizona
State University, MSN from the University of Florida, and a Ph.D. in Nursing Research from Loyola University Chicago. A
nationally, board certified Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner, the primary aim of her clinical practice is to improve the health
of women, their families and communities. As nurse scientist, Dr. Kostas-Polston’s scholarship is focused on assuring the
effective translation of knowledge for new approaches related to prevention, diagnosis and treatment of Human Papillomavirus
(HPV) related oropharyngeal cancer. Dr. Kostas-Polston’s research goals include developing tools for the detection of persistent
Human Papillomavirus infection of the oropharynx as well as identifying strategies which may be used to inhibit the oncogenic
activity of high risk HPV genotypes. In support of her training in Genomics, Dr. Kostas-Polston was selected as an NIH Fellow and
completed post-doctoral studies in Genetics, Genomics and Molecular Biology at the National Institutes of Health/National Institute
of Nursing Research. Dr. Kostas-Polston is past Chair of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health (NPWH)
and the Women’s Health Research Section, Midwest Nurse Research Society (MNRS); and served on the Board of Directors for
Missouri’s Family Health Council. Above all, her most important accomplishments are her three, drop dead gorgeous boys ages 15, 19 and 49.

Versie Johnson-Mallard, PhD, MSMS, ARNP WHNP-BC
Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Nurse Faculty Scholar Alumni
Assistant Professor, University of South Florida

Dr. Johnson-Mallard is a board certified women’s health nurse practitioner and research faculty in the College of Nursing at the University of
South Florida and a Robert Wood Johnson Nurse Faculty Scholar Alumni. Dr. Johnson-Mallard is a past K-30 fellow in the College of Medicine;
with a focus in translational research. Her research and publications are in the area of women’s health, reproductive health promotion, sexually
transmitted infection prevention education, and behavior change in response to culturally appropriate nursing interventions. Dr. Mallard earned her
BSN from Florida A&M University, MSN for University of Florida and a PhD from the University of South Florida.

Johnson-Mallard is an active board member of Town and Country Hospital, the National Association of Nurse Practitioners Women’s Health, Board
Member of Polk County Advance Practice Council, and an adviser for the Pregnancy Help and Information Center in Tallahassee. Dr. Johnson-Mallard
maintains a membership with the international honor society- Sigma Theta Tau, and Florida A & M University Honor Society. She provides consultation
to partners who share interest in the development of STI/HPV educational material, clinical guidelines and policy.





Secretary

Deema Habboub, MS

Deema Habboub graduated from the University of South Florida with a Master’s degree in Medical Sciences.
She also has a dual degree in Biology and Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida.
She has worked as a graduate research assistant for the University of South Florida’s College of Nursing under
the guidance of Dr. Elizabeth Kostas-Polston. During their time investigating HPV-related oropharyngeal cancer,
she has come to realize the importance of health care access, screening and prevention methods to protect
community health. As an ICOWHI intern, she has contributed to the development, administration, research and
collaboration efforts involved in launching women’s health initiatives worldwide.


Informatics Coordinator

Kimberly P. Dunn, BSN

Kimberly P. Dunn graduated from Florida Gulf Coast University  with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She is
currently earning her Masters at the University of South Florida. As a registered nurse she works in maternal health
utilizing education and research to promote both healthy moms and babies.  Working with Blue Bra Campaign has
provided her an incredible oppurtunity to grow both as a nurse and an advocate for women's health.  Upon completing
her Masters of Science in Nursing she plans to pursue her passion for promoting women's health both at a community and
national level.
